'Laughing' Doesn't Cease by
Francis Scott Maloney "The University of Hartford's own improvisational comedy troupe, "Stop Laughing Mom," starring Dave Eng, Justin Moran, Dom Barett, Jim Silvia, Jordan Daniell, Dave Jivin and Mike Bunker, put on a riot of a show last Wednesday night at Wilde Auditorium. The doors opened at 10 p.m. and the little auditorium held close to a full house." "In a shower, on a spaceship, with a safe with a missing key, was the scene devised for the next game. Eng and Bunker sat with their backs to the stage and blindly provided dialogue for Jivin and Jordan who's challenge was to match their actions to the voice dubbing. Although it was a short skit, there was plenty of laughter." Wilde improv by
Brian Verderosa "The troupe, comprised of Dave Eng, Justin Moran, Dave Jivin, Gina Cantelmo, Joe Battaglia, Jordan Daniell, Chris Pappas, Jeff Turcotte, Chris Bisi and Dylan Eckstein, perform in a similar manner to the actors that are featured on ABC's "Whose Line Is It Anyway?." They use audience participation to make every game they play unique, and based upon the viewer's suggestions, they create scenes. They opened the show with the game "Everyday Olympics." This requires audience members to shout out everyday activities, in this case, "showering" was chosen. Two actors got ready to compete in the Olympic Showering Competition, and the antics that ensued were brilliantly hysterical." "Next, the group played a game called "Park Bench." The setup is fairly simple--two actors start a scene, which was decided on as being "waiting for a taxi." Eng and Cantelmo started it out, with the rest of the gang sitting behind them in a line. Then, Daniell approached the two, and reworked the scene. After that, the participant on the left would drop out when the next actor felt it appropriate to jump in. This resulted in a dozen different scenes being created by the different performers!"
